I have trained in integrative therapy, and this means I can combine the most suitable approaches to work effectively with you as an individual. Integrative skills also enable me to be flexible with the work I do with you.
Because people enter counselling for many different reasons each person's issues are unique, and so my focus is always on you and the problem you bring.
I am influenced by person-centred theory which values who you are and respects the pace of your journey towards a more fully lived life. I see our work together as part of that unfolding journey. I value the CBT approach and I apply this technique to help client learn to cope with anxiety independently.
I am particularly inspired by Heinz Kohut self psychology, a modern psychoanalytic theory which enables me to work at greater depth on the issue you bring. I also use this approach to help you consider how your early experiences may contribute to the formation of your sense of self. This may involve working with the conscious and the unconscious.
